The 111 Navy Chair®
When you recycle a plastic bottle, you're doing something good. When you recycle 111 of them, you're doing something great. Help your bottle become something extraordinary again. Introducing the 111 Navy Chair®.
The re-making of a classic
Handmade in 77 steps; designed to withstand, fire, wind, rust; and lasting 150 years, the original 1006 Navy Chair was first built in 1944 for the US Navy submarines. Since then, it has made its way into homes, cafes, Hollywood sets and creative spaces around the world.
The Chair has now made a comeback, with the re-make using 111 recycled Coca-Cola plastic bottles, aptly naming it the 111 Navy Chair®.
When two icons come together
The 111 Navy Chair® is the result of a collaboration between The Coca-Cola Company and Emeco, the original designer and manufacturer of the Navy Chair. It brings together the companies' two most iconic products - the Coca-Cola bottle and the original Navy Chair.
The 111 Navy Chair® was developed with over four years of research as well as design and materials testing to ensure the most ecologically friendly and resilient product was produced. Each 111 Navy Chair® is made with content from approximately 111 20 oz (approximately equivalent to 111 600ml) recycled plastic bottles. It is estimated that approximately five million plastic bottles will be recycled globally each year for production of the chairs.
