In Australia, we focus on 'lightweighting' our packaging, using less material without compromising on quality, while continuing to guarantee the recycling possibilities of the materials used.
A lightweight solution
Since their introduction to Australia, the amount of material in our main glass, PET plastic and aluminum packs have all been reduced. For example, from 2003- 2008, 21,000 tonnes of PET were saved through lightweighting various PET packs (equivalent to 792 million fewer 600ml PET 'Coke' bottles). Other reductions include:
- Lightweighting our 385ml glass bottles by 5 grams
- Reducing stretch film usage by 30%
- Reducing the width of our shrink film by 5% (saving 16 tones of shrink film per year)
